114 – Integrated Supply Chains: Achievements and a look to the Future [June 2011]
“High Tech companies have focused on core processes (Ordering, Forecast, Logistic data, Invoice, etc.) in their supply chain to achieve an effective integration level with their partners in order to increase speed and flexibility, reduce manual handling and cost. Can integrated supply chain solutions fulfil the expectations of companies and what are the key lessons learned to become even better? In the future companies face even more cost pressures and requirements from their customers to provide the correct product, with the right volume at the right time in the right place. Hence requirements regarding efficient and effective supply chain processes are and will become a key competitive advantage. What role will B2B (process and automation definitions) play to support the fulfilment of these requirements and help companies to stay one step ahead against their competition, using solutions that fit any size partner?”

Academic View: Adressing Transparency, Communication and Participation in Cross-Organisational Enterprise 2.0 Projects by Prof. (FH) Mag. Gerald Petz, Head of Studies Marketing and Electronic Business Bachelor and Dietmar Nedbal, Researcher at the Digital Econoy Unit both from the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences FH OÖ Studienbetriebs , Steyr Campus
“Enterprise 2.0 based IT projects linking value chain partners offer great potential for flexible, loosely-coupled integration and ad-hoc information exchange. But, stakeholders’ readiness, willingness and ability to cooperate need to be considered and addressed mercilessly to successfully implement common strategies, systems and processes. To increase the probability to succeed in such projects and to enhance the intensity of cooperation and trust across the value chain transparency, communication and participation need to be addressed. By presenting an integrated project methodology, the authors bridge the gap between existing scientific models and requirements for cross-organizational Enterprise 2.0 projects. The proposed methodology integrates change management’s critical success factors and principles as well as methods applicable to Enterprise 2.0 projects. The contribution of the paper is to explain and reflect the performed methodology as well as activities and selected key results from two pilot projects and to match the results with critical success factors which were derived from literature. With it, it provides elaborative insights into key features of Enterprise 2.0 platforms and project management.” |
